Parents Remove Children From School After Asbestos Violation
Two parents have pulled their kids out of a Missouri junior high school after asbestos was allegedly found in the plaster ceiling of one of the rooms.
Traces of mesothelioma-causing asbestos were found after a renovation project. One percent asbestos is considered a risk, yet they found between 3 and 5 percent at the school.
Asbestos exposure is a leading cause of mesothelioma. Mesothelioma is a form of cancer that can be deadly, and can develop in a person years after they have been exposed to asbestos.
In response to the asbestos levels, the school has hired an air-quality inspector.
