Illinois Construction Accident Attorneys Win Big

Illinois attorneys who brought a negligence case against a construction company following a construction accident death have won a big settlement for the victim's family -- $6.74 million.

The man who died was working for a company that was insulating pipes back in 2007 in Decatur, which is a few hours outside of Chicago. The man was injured in a construction accident and died as a result of his injuries.

The injuries happened when the man was working on equipment that malfunctioned. He was sprayed with steam and hot liquid and had burns on over 90 percent of his body before he died.

Yet Another Construction Accident Death to Report

Sad news coming out of Georgia, where a construction worker has been killed and others injured in a roof collapse.

The collapse happened at a church in Hancock County. Investigators believe the collapse may have started when a rafter fell, causing the rest of the roof to come crashing down.

The church was being rebuilt after a tornado ripped through the building back in February. More information here.

12 Killed in India Construction Accident

A tragedy has occurred on a construction site in central India: a chimney has collapsed, killing 12 construction workers.

There are few details currently available, but the AP is reporting that the chimney was part of a power plant that was being built by the Bharat Aluminum Co.

People fear that 70 people may be buried under the rubble.

New York Construction Accidents Increase

There's good news and bad news this year for New York City construction workers. The bad news: there have been an increase in construction accidents reported in New York City. However, the good news is that overall, there have been fewer deaths.

Many of the accidents were falls at construction accidents. A building spokesperson told a NYC radio station that this increase might be the result of an increase in reporting even minor construction accidents.

Construction Worker Electrocuted on the Job

A Massachusetts electrical contractor was recently killed in a construction site accident.

The contractor was working on a supermarket renovation when the tragic accident occurred. Sadly, he was the second person to have an accident on that site. Earlier this month another construction worker was injured working at the supermarket. The supermarket is looking into the incidents and has stated that they are committed to having safe working conditions at their stores.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is currently investigating the death to determine if any citations will be issued.
