Personal Injury: YMCA Testicle Injury Leads to Nearly $800,000 Verdict

An Akron, Ohio man who suffered a testicular injury at a local YMCA was awarded $786,760 by a jury on April 11.

The injury occurred when a broken weight machine caused a steel rod to make contact with the victim's left testicle. The machine had been broken before and was inadequately duct taped at the time of injury; the 22-year-old victim testified that he had been forced to leave college and could not walk or function sexually. Attorneys for the YMCA declined to comment on the verdict.
